Lyonothamnus floribundus

The ironwood at the UC Bot Garden is just about to bloom. Give it another week or two. A small one grows right near the vehicle gate at the front entrance. Another one is near the fence in the Calfiornia section. I love the collage the fallen leaves make on the ground. Although it is evergreen, leaves still fall. It is a fast-growing tree with shredding bark. Many reasons to love this tree, and only $25. The native propagation area will be open for plant sales from 10:30 to 1:30 on Thursday, so come enjoy the garden, but don't leave without buying a plant.
